Trial, plans and billing

Every shop starts with a 14-day trial and no card. When it ends the shop becomes read-only — nothing is deleted and export still works — until a plan is chosen. Store billing is not open yet, and there is no card payment on this website, so no shop can be charged today.

Billing pages are usually where a help article starts hedging. This one will not: today the product is free to try, paid plans are published but not yet purchasable, and the trial ends into a read-only shop rather than a deletion. Here is exactly what that means, in order.

The trial: 14 days, no card

The trial starts when you create the shop on the web at /app, on any modern browser. It lasts 14 days and covers the whole product for the plan you are trialling — you are not asked for a card, and there is no step where a card number is stored and charged later without you.

  • No card at sign-up, and no card anywhere on this website.
  • One trial per shop, not per device. The web trial and the Android app are the same shop and the same account, so signing in on the phone does not start a second clock.
  • You can use the trial for real work. Counts, movements, items and imports are ordinary data, not a demo sandbox.

The day the trial ends

On day 15 the shop becomes read-only until a plan is chosen. Read-only is a specific state, not a euphemism for locked:

  • Nothing is deleted. Items, movements, counts, purchase orders and members stay where they are.
  • You can still sign in and read everything — the item list, the movement history, past counts and reports.
  • Export still works. Items CSV, items XLSX, history CSV and the full JSON file are all available on a read-only shop, so you can take your data out without paying and without asking.
  • Writes stop. Receiving stock, counting, recording a sale or a correction, editing an item and inviting people all stop until a plan is active.

That last point is deliberate. A read-only shop is honest about its state: numbers do not keep moving in a shop that is no longer being paid for, and nothing pretends to save while quietly failing. If you are mid-count when the trial ends, finish or note where you stopped before the cutoff; the draft resumes at the next uncounted item once the shop is active again.

What each plan includes

Count history and variance reviewIncludedIncluded
Import and exportIncludedIncluded
Purchase orders with partial receiving—Included
Stock transfers between locations—Included

Two things are worth reading twice. Items are unlimited on both plans, so the price never rises because your catalogue grew. And Starter includes one location, which suits a single shop; the second and third location, and the transfers that move stock between them, are Pro features.

A pending invite counts toward the user limit. If you invite three people on Starter while the invite is still unaccepted, the shop is full — remove the invite or a member before adding someone else.

How the price is stated

  • Prices are in US dollars and exclude VAT. A store purchase will apply local taxes at the point of purchase.
  • The price published on the pricing page is the renewal price, not an introductory price that jumps at the second term.
  • The price does not rise mid-term. If it changes later, the change applies at renewal, not in the middle of a period you have already paid for.

Annual billing is the same plan paid for a year at a lower monthly rate: $180 for Starter and $372 for Pro. It is not a separate tier, and it does not change what is included.

Store billing is not open yet

Paid plans open with store billing — the subscription goes through the app store rather than a card form on this site. That is not switched on yet. Until it is:

  • There is no card payment anywhere on mobileinventory.org. If a page here ever asks for a card number, it is not us.
  • No shop is being charged, and no trial is converting into a charge.
  • Every shop runs on the trial. When the trial ends, the shop goes read-only as described above, and it stays readable until plans are purchasable.

We would rather publish the price now and take no money than take money for a billing path that is not finished. Thepricing page is the place that changes first when billing opens.

Choosing a plan and cancelling when billing opens

When store billing is live, the purchase happens in the store, and the shop picks up the plan from the store's subscription state. Two consequences follow, and both are worth knowing before you buy:

  1. Cancelling happens in the store, not on this site. On Android, open the store's subscription settings and cancel there. There is no cancel button in Mobile Inventory, because the store holds the subscription.
  2. A cancelled plan runs to the end of the paid period. The shop stays readable and writable until that date, then behaves like an ended trial: read-only, nothing deleted, export still working.

Upgrading from Starter to Pro is the same shape: the store handles the change and the shop follows it. If the shop still shows the old limits after a purchase, the subscription state has not reached the app yet — seeTroubleshooting before buying anything twice.

What it does not do yet

  • No card payment on the website, and no invoice billing by bank transfer.
  • No self-serve plan change inside the product. The store owns the subscription.
  • No automatic reminder email series before the trial ends. Note the end date yourself if the timing matters.
  • No per-user billing and no add-on seats; the plan's seat count is the seat count.
  • Refunds follow the store's rules, since the store takes the payment. We cannot refund a charge we did not process.

If a billing question is not answered here, email[email protected] with the shop name and the email address on the account.
