Deleting your account

Deletion is self-serve and immediate while you are signed in: open Settings and choose Delete my account, or use /account/delete without the app. A shop you solely own is deleted with its history; in a shared shop the ledger stays for the other members and ownership passes to another member. Export first if you want a copy.

Deleting an account is a real deletion, not a deactivation, and it happens as soon as you confirm. That is the right default — a shop that has closed should not sit on a server forever — but it means the order of operations matters. Export first, delete second.

Before you delete: take a copy

Export works on every plan, including after a trial ends and on a read-only shop. If there is any chance you will want the item list, the movement history or the counts later, take them now: deletion removes them, and there is no recovery window and no backup we can restore from.

  • On the web: items CSV, items XLSX, history CSV, and a JSON file with everything — items, movements, counts and members.
  • In the app: a JSON export plus two CSVs, through the share sheet.

Open the files before you delete. A CSV you never opened is not a backup; check that the rows are there and the columns are what you expect.

Delete while signed in

  1. Open your shop — /app on the web, or the Android app.
  2. Go to Settings and choose Delete my account.
  3. Confirm. The account is removed immediately and the deletion cannot be undone.

Email confirmation is on for accounts, so make sure you can still receive mail at the address on the account before you start.

Delete without the app or the web trial

If you cannot sign in, you can still start the request from a browser:

  1. Open /account/delete.
  2. Follow the route it offers. The signed-in path — Settings, then Delete my account — is the one that works today; the page describes both.
  3. If you still cannot get in, email[email protected] from the address on the account, with the subject "Delete my account".

The mailbox is not connected to a request queue yet, so an emailed request is handled by a person rather than a form. That is also why the signed-in route is the reliable one: it completes in a moment, while an email depends on someone reading it.

What is removed

  • Your account: the email address, the password and the sign-in itself.
  • Your membership of every shop you belonged to.
  • A shop you solely own: the shop itself, with its items, movements, counts, suppliers, purchase orders and history.

Access ends immediately. You will not be able to sign in again with that address, and signing up with the same address later creates a new, empty shop rather than restoring the old one.

What happens to a shared shop

A shop with more than one member survives your deletion, because the other people still need their stock history. What changes is this:

  • The ledger stays. Movements you recorded keep the name that recorded them, so the history still reads correctly.
  • Ownership passes to another member, so the shop is not left without an owner.
  • Your seat is freed, and the remaining members keep working as before.

If you are the only owner of a shop that other people use, ownership passes to another member automatically, so the shop keeps running without you. Deleting the last owner of a shop that nobody else belongs to deletes the shop.

What deletion does not do

  • It does not cancel a subscription. Store billing is not open yet; when it is, cancel in the store's subscription settings, because the store holds the subscription and we cannot cancel it for you.
  • It does not remove records the other members of a shared shop still own — their ledger is theirs.
  • It does not remove operational records kept outside the product, such as an email you sent to support.
  • It does not restore anything. There is no undo, no grace period and no archive of a deleted shop.

If you ask by email

Send the request from the address on the account, so we can see it is yours without asking for a password. Include the shop name if you belong to more than one and want to be clear about which shop you mean. Do not send your password, and do not send card details — we never need either.

Expect a reply at that address. We may ask one question to confirm the account is yours, such as the shop name. The mailbox is read by a person, so give it a working day or two before following up, and reply in the same thread rather than starting a new one.

Reading about your data

How Mobile Inventory handles your data describes what is stored, where it runs, which processors are involved, the backup position and what deletion removes. It is a description of the software's actual behaviour, not a legal privacy notice — the privacy notice is still being prepared and is not published yet, so there is no privacy policy page to link to today. When it is published, it will be linked from that page.

What it does not do yet

  • No public deletion request form. Email and the signed-in route are what exist.
  • No scheduled deletion or grace period — deletion is immediate on confirmation.
  • No way to delete a single item's history while keeping the item; the ledger is append-only.
  • No published privacy notice yet, as above.
  • No deletion of a shared shop by one member. A shop is deleted when its last owner deletes their account, not by leaving it.

If you want the account gone and cannot get into it, email[email protected] from the address on the account and say plainly that you are locked out and want the account deleted.
